Smog Insurance Anyone?

Here's an interesting blog topic for our insurance agents today: China's largest travel agency will be offering smog insurance for their travelers. Claims can be filed for the portion of their vacation spoiled by severe smog in certain cities in China.

Traveling to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu or Guangzhou? A Chinese travel agency now offers smog insurance. For a premium of anywhere from $1.60 to $2.40, you can insure your vacation against severe smog... kind of. If during your trip, the air-quality index reaches 200 (based on a 3rd party air pollution app) on two or more consecutive days, you can file a claim. The payout? $8 per day.
